“Excellence in Education” is a partnership between Rio Salado and 99.9FM KEZ. Students and their parents nominate K-12 teachers who are excellent at their profession and have made a difference in their community. Valerie Segerson of Johnson Elementary in Mesa was named “Teacher of the Year.” Sergerson received $999 and additional accolades from the attendees, Rio Salado College and Clear Channel Communications.
