Scholarship Applicants Wanted For Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is looking for high-performing community college transfer students with financial need who plan to transfer to a top four-year college or university to apply for its Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Be a current student at an accredited US community college or two-year institution with sophomore status by December 31, 2013, or a recent graduate (since spring 2009)
  • Plan to enroll full time in a baccalaureate program at an accredited college or university in fall 2014
  • Have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.5 or better on a scale of 4.0
  • Demonstrate unmet financial need.
  • Have not previously been nominated for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.

Note: While the Foundation considers academic excellence first in evaluating candidates, competitive applicants must also demonstrate unmet financial need, which has two components:
  • Education costs that are appreciably greater than the total amount of other scholarships or grant awards.
  • Insufficient student and family income to meet educational costs.

Selected students may use the award for tuition, living expenses, books, and other required fees, may pursue any area of study, will have the opportunity to network with the larger JKCF Scholar community, and will receive up to $30,000 each year, making this scholarship the largest private scholarship for community college transfer students in the country. Students who stand out for their exceptional academic abilities and achievements, persistence, leadership and desire to help others, should visit the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s website to learn more. The application is open from September 12 to November 7, 2013. http://www.jkcf.org/scholarships/undergraduate-transfer-scholarships/
