SPOT127 Project Wins 2013 Student Production Emmy



SPOT127, KJZZ's youth media center in Maryvale has been awarded the 2013 Student Production Emmy by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The Rocky Mountain Chapter covers all of Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, and El Centro California.

The winning project, "Teenagers Coming Out" was created by Jessica Garcia and Melissa Mancio who joined SPOT 127 last year. Both students attended Maryvale High School and neither had produced an audio or video project prior to their involvement in the SPOT 127 program. Garcia and Mancio both graduated from high school last May and are now attending college.

KJZZ is a listener-supported public radio station licensed to the Maricopa Community College District. It is a community service of Rio Salado College’s Division of Public Service, featuring a mix of local, national and international news, jazz and blues — serving more than 306,000 weekly listeners.
