500 Volunteers Needed For GAZBF

Submitted by Dave Noble, Development Director for Sun Sounds of Arizona

The Sun Sounds Foundation is gearing up for an annual tradition that requires the help of a small army of volunteers-- the 2014 Great Arizona Beer Festival. This year marks the 26th year for the GAZBF, which will take place on March 1, from 2-6 p.m. at Tempe Beach Park at 54 W Rio Salado Pkwy. The event attracts thousands of beer enthusiasts, but more importantly increases awareness and much needed funds for Sun Sounds of Arizona, a community service that provides access to current news and information to Arizona residents who are blind, visually impaired or who have a disability which prevents them from reading print material.

More than 500 volunteers are needed to help in every aspect of running the event.

“The volunteers might pour beer, deliver ice, set-up tents and tables, hang posters and banners, work as host or hostess in our special pavilions, or help take tickets and put on wristbands,” said Andrea Pasquale, Sun Sounds volunteer coordinator.

Companies are encouraged to get a group together and have fun.

Volunteers are still needed for the following shifts:
  • Noon – 6 p.m. - Duties may include front gate ticketing, VIP hosting, designated driver services, wrist banding, t-shirt tent, brewer/vendor check-in, beer pouring, volunteer tent, tickets sales, and other tasks as needed.
  • 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. - Duties may include brewer and vendor check in, tear down and other tasks as needed.
The GAZBF is a tasting extravaganza, showcasing more than 250 brews from as many as 60 breweries from across the state, country and around the globe. The breweries are part of the charity-work too; each provides samples of their proudest brewing achievement as a donation to the event.

General admission and VIP tickets include 24, 3-ounce samples. No additional tickets for samples may be purchased. VIP ticket holders enter at 1 p.m. (an hour early) and also are provided a meal inside the VIP pavilion overlooking the stage. Last call is at 5:30 p.m., last pour at 5:45 p.m. Attendees must be 21 or older.
