Take Advantage of Free L.I.F.T. Workshops

The City of Tempe has partnered with Tempe Union High School District, Arizona State University, Grand Canyon University, Mesa Community College, Rio Salado College and the University for Advancing Technology to create College Connect, a series of free workshops aimed at helping high school students navigate the college entrance requirements.

The community-based program is specifically designed to assist youth in fulfilling their dreams of a post-secondary education. The first of four topic-specific workshops will be held on Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Rd. in Tempe.

Aug. 16, Learn:
College preparation timelines for juniors and seniors
Funding college via college savings plans
Admission tests: preparation and completion


Sept. 20, Investigate:

Exploring careers and college majors
Tips for getting the most out of college fairs

Nov. 1, Fund:
Funding college via financial aid and scholarships
Interactive scholarship searches
Essay writing tips and strategies

Jan. 31, Transition:
College Goal Sunday: overview and timing
FAFSA overview and preparation
