Sept 8 College Closure Due to Weather

Due to the extreme weather conditions and flooding, all Maricopa Community College campuses and locations are closed, and all in-person classes are cancelled today, Monday, September 8. This includes evening classes.

Maricopa Community College Department of Public Safety employees are asked to report to their regular posts if they can get there safely. Other (“non-essential”) employees should avoid travel to work if possible. 

Employees who are currently at locations are advised to leave once they are able to get home safely.

All Rio Salado locations are scheduled to open tomorrow, Sept. 9. We will keep you posted if that changes.

Red Cross Relief Update: 
The American Red Cross is opening a shelter at Copper Canyon High School, 9126 W. Camelback, Glendale, AZ for those displaced by flooding. There is also a shelter at Betty Fairfax High School, 8225 S. 59th Ave. in Laveen.  A shelter team is standing by in La Paz County, in case a shelter is needed in Wenden or Salome.

Red Cross volunteers staff shelters and ensure anyone coming in has a safe, dry place to sleep, food, water, emotional support and information.
