Help End Hunger in Maricopa County

United Way logo for World Record to End Hunger event, 10/25/14.
Join Rio Salado, the Maricopa Community Colleges and Valley of the Sun United Way to help end hunger in Maricopa County.

Whether you GIVE, ADVOCATE or VOLUNTEER—every action you take will make a difference.

On any given day in Maricopa County, 82,000 households struggle with chronic hunger, which means they may not know where they’re going to get their next meal. Valley of the Sun United Way and partners like the Association of Arizona Food Banks, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Rio Salado are working together to help families meet their daily food needs-- while creating change to end hunger once and for all.

We hope you'll join us in tackling this bold goal by taking part in one of the following activities during the remainder of Hunger Action Week, October 20 - 24.

Food Drive - October 20-24
Look for the white United Way food boxes at Rio Salado locations across the Valley and drop off non-perishable food items the rest of this week, until Oct. 24.

Suggested Items: Peanut Butter, Canned Vegetables or Fruit, Rice, Pasta, Beans. No glass please.

Guinness World Record to End Hunger for Local Kids Volunteer Event October 25, 12-3 p.m.
UNITE with Rio Salado College, Valley of the Sun United Way and 2,000 of our closest friends as we try to break the Guinness Book of World Record® for the most Weekend Hunger Backpacks assembled in three minutes.

The assembled hunger relief kits will be distributed to more than 500 children each week. These children have been identified as chronically hungry, and face even greater hardships when school is out of session and on weekends.

You MUST register in advance with Valley of the Sun United Way to take part.
