How to Sell Yourself & Your Company Workshop

Header for Workshop: How to Sell Yourself and Your Company: a Breakfast Discussion with Nancy Sanders. A Rio Salado College Business Education Seminar

What comes to mind when you hear the word “salesperson”?  Last year’s Gallop poll ranked “car salespeople” among the least honest professions in the country, a step above members of Congress and lobbyists. How can ethical business professionals put their customers at ease about the sales process?

Valley entrepreneurs, business owners and sales professionals will have an opportunity to learn key skills to effectively market or “sell” themselves and their organizations during a community breakfast and workshop led by award-winning marketing expert, author and business owner Nancy Sanders on Thursday, Nov. 6, 7-9 a.m. at Rio Salado College Southern in Tempe.

Sanders, who is also serving as the newly appointed Regional Center Director for the Maricopa Small Business Development Center (SBDC), will focus her hour-long discussion on developing a personal sales plan, creating value within your network and effective use of non-verbal communications.

Sanders has generated millions of dollars in revenue and profits for both small businesses and Fortune 500 companies by building strong relationships, creating value for her clients and implementing simple marketing strategies.

“Marketing and sales can be easy,” said Sanders, who is the founder of Galaxy Consulting Services and Three Dog Marketing. Her goal now is to help guide Valley businesses toward success.

This is the second in a series of four workshops presented by Rio Salado College, the Tempe Chamber of Commerce and the Maricopa Small Business Development Center as part of Rio Salado’s 2014-15 Business Education Seminar Series, which is designed to address topics that are important to Tempe small business owners and entrepreneurs.

“We chose this topic in particular because many businesses overlook the importance of sales in their operations,” said Rio Salado’s Director of Business and Industry Partnership Mike Crusa. “A lot of new start-ups think the product or service will sell itself. You can have the best product on the planet but if you don’t have solid sales principles, practices and strategies in place-- you’re setting yourself up for failure.”

Crusa said Sanders will impart tips and success strategies that work, and that most people can use. “Everyone sells something or another-- but not everyone does it well. Nancy will show how easy and fun it can be—when you have the right mindset and intention.”
