This year Rio Salado employees raised a record-breaking $25,124 from 160 donors - $8,124 more than its projected goal!
The success of this campaign is a testament to the commitment Rio Salado employees have to making education affordable and accessible.
"The annual campaign raises funds for scholarships to encourage and support education as a transformational experience," said Rio Salado Coordinator of Public Programs Deborah Spotts.
A 2014-15 Rio Salado scholarship recipient is Joe Jacobson, Jr. a USMC veteran who serves as a Veteran Assistant at the East Valley Veterans Education Center.
“I am grateful for We Are Rio... it was a stepping stone for me in completing my associate degree and moving on to ASU," said Jacobson.
Jacobson will graduate with an associate degree on May 15 from Mesa Community College and begin his program at Arizona State University on May 18. He plans to major in Public Service-Community Resolutions (Business) with a minor in American Indian Studies.
