Rio Salado is taking part in the week-long celebration by hosting a series of activities and special events at the Tempe headquarters. There will also be daily, multicultural culinary delights from the Café at Rio.
Here is a brief of activities we have in mind.
International Selfie Contest
Snap a selfie of yourself participating in an International Education Week activity, wearing an item of clothing that celebrates your heritage, or visiting an international destination and email it to the thewave@riosalado.edu by noon, Friday November 20.
Photos will be posted on Rio Salado’s Facebook page. Winners will be selected at random to win participation prizes.

Wear Your Beret Day
● Coffee and pastries in the International Education Department (ground floor, Tower) - 9:30 a.m. to noon.
● French-themed videos and library display – Café at Rio, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
● Café at Rio lunch special: Chicken Cordon Bleu - $7.99
Mexican Heritage
● Day of the Dead display and crafts area - Rio Amphitheater, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
● Salsa Contest! Sample salsa made by Rio Salado staff and vote for your favorite. Café Dining Room, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
● Mexican-themed videos and library display – Café at Rio, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
● Café at Rio lunch special: Street Tacos- $1 each
Wednesday, Nov. 18
Indian-Spanish Fusion
● Indian and Spanish-themed videos and library display – Café at Rio, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
● Kathak (Indian) and Flamenco (Spanish) performance by professional dancers between the Hohokam and Tower buildings. Two performances: 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m., and 12:15-1 p.m.
● Café at Rio lunch special: Spanish Tortillas with Vegetable Curry - $6.99
Native American Appreciation
● Native American cultural performances – Rio Amphitheater, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
● Native American-themed videos and library display – Café at Rio, - 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
● Café at Rio lunch special: Native American Indian Tacos - $5.49
Touch of Japan
● Origami demonstration – Café Dining Room, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
● Japanese-themed videos and library display – Café at Rio, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
● Café at Rio lunch special: Sushi Bento - $5.99
