A Message From Chancellor Maria Harper-Marinick

As you are aware, the Arizona Court of Appeals yesterday overturned a lower court decision that allowed DACA students who reside in Maricopa County to receive in-state tuition. During the past five years, more than 600 DACA students earned an associate’s degree or a certificate from one of our colleges. This ruling will impact the 2,000 DACA students currently enrolled in Maricopa County Community Colleges.
We are currently reviewing the Appeals Court ruling with outside counsel and our Governing Board will meet next week in executive session to discuss this matter.

The Maricopa County Community College District is built on a foundation of providing access to higher education for diverse students and communities, and we continue to be committed to that mission. We are committed to helping all people--regardless of their ethnic background--achieve their academic goals and fulfill their potential.

In the interest of effective and transparent communication throughout our system, we will provide updates on any further developments as they become available.
