KJZZ Earns Prestigious Journalism Awards

KJZZ 91.5 FM and its reporters were recognized by Public Radio News Directors Incorporated (PRNDI) and Radio and Television Digital News Association (RTNDA) 2018 award committees for their outstanding contributions to journalism excellence.

PRNDI awards recognize and celebrate the work of reporting, editing, anchoring and producing at local public media radio stations across the U.S.
KJZZ reporters took home first and second place awards in the Division AA Best Writing category and a second place prize in the Enterprise and Investigative Reporting category.

  • 2nd Place Best Reporting - Earth & Bone: Havasupai Stand Up to Mining Company, Laurel Morales
  • 2nd Place Enterprise/Investigative - On the Inside: The Chaos of AZ Prison Health Care, Jimmy Jenkins

Four KJZZ reporters were also recognized with five RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Regional Awards, which are among the most prestigious in the broadcast and digital news industry. The Murrow Awards embody the values and principles set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism.
