Online Career Center Offers Wealth of Resources

illustration of someone anxiety stricken. Text bubble: "Oh No!"

If the thought of searching for a new job causes heart palpitations, perhaps a visit to Rio Salado's Career Services is the right first step.

Rio Salado Counselors understand the challenges of searching for employment and, therefore, have invested considerable time in developing an online Career Center to meet the unique needs of our students.

When students enter the Career Center, they are given choices regarding which direction they would like to go, just as they would in a physical office. Students who are looking toward the longer term goal of determining a future career can click on the Find a Career Path option while those looking for ways to expand their monthly budgets can click on Find a Job.

No matter which path students choose, they will be presented with a host of self-exploration options. Students can take their time delving into the various options, knowing that a Rio Salado Counselor will be available to provide additional, in-depth guidance via telephone, email, or in-person at one of 10 Valley locations.

By choosing to explore career paths, students can take a self-assessment, research various careers, begin planning an educational pathway and receive guidance for establishing concrete goals.

Enrolling in one of the career exploration classes is an alternative way to go into the career search process in a more in-depth way. The Counseling Department offers two courses that feature career exploration--CPD102AB Career Exploration and CPD150 Creating College Success.

The Career Center’s path toward finding a job offers guidance on writing a resume, interviewing, networking, and the various methods for finding job leads. Although there is considerable information in the online center, it is just the tip of the iceberg. That could be sufficient for some students, but those who require additional assistance can reach out to a counselor.

Students are invited to email resumes to the resume help email at resume.help@riosalado.edu. Counselors are also available for mock interviews, cover letter writing assistance, and to provide advice on networking. Call (480) 517-8785 to connect with a Counselor near you.
